Frida’s Folk Art Colouring book is the second of three projects I’ve published this year. The journey has been frenzied but fun and what a learning curve. I’ve gone through piles of canvases, packs of paint brushes, 12 hour days at the computer and my camera’s SD card screams “memory full”. I’ll never take a colouring book for granted again. I couldn’t have done it without Dr Jay and his team in Mexico (now there’s the law of attraction for you) who guided me through the process of printing, website design and Amazon. My most embarrassing moment must have been dressing up as Frida – where are those kitsch flowery headbands when you need them.
What comes out of this for me is that vibrancy is achieved by following your passion. The creative process of applying paint to a blank canvas is all-consuming. As Daniel Priestley summed it up in his book Key Person of Influence you cannot get into your zone if you are a “swaggie” – you got to stake your territory in the new entrepreneurial revolution that is replacing the industrial age jobs so many of us have worked in. You’ve got to do what you love.
Happing Colouring!
